May at Tendo
Media in Focus
For the month of May, the Tendo team have continued to assist our clients in amplifying their voices across national broadcast, regional and trade media.
Unlock Democracy
Tendo supported Unlock Democracy in a project to raise awareness of the benefits of Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) to parliamentarians, revealing new analysis about the number of unregistered voters, and how AVR can improve political participation for marginalised groups.
This included:
- Coverage in The Mirror and The Times highlighting new figures from Unlock Democracy and the group’s open letter to the Prime Minister calling for AVR to be considered in the upcoming Elections Bill.
- Tom Brake, Director of Unlock Democracy, was featured in BBC’s ‘Today in Parliament’, sharing details about the group’s parliamentary event providing constituency-tailored information, discussing the importance of AVR, and improving political participation.

We provide external communication services for TISA to support their efforts to shape the financial services industry and drive meaningful conversations on improving UK consumers’ financial well-being.
In May, this included:
- Coverage in the Financial Times, The Times, FT Adviser, Scottish Financial News, GB News, and Birmingham Live following news that the Chancellor is preparing to launch her review of Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs).
- Carol Knight, CEO of TISA, featured in FT Adviser’s piece on the need for widespread financial education and targeted support following the FCA’s Financial Lives Survey.

- Renny Biggins, Head of Retirement, was featured in The Times, IFA Magazine, and Business Matters Magazine, commenting on the announcement of the government’s pension scheme reforms.
CyberUp Campaign
As part of our work in cyber policy, we run the CyberUp Campaign, the UK’s leading coalition calling for an urgent update to the UK’s cyber laws.
This May:
- Tendo facilitated a profile with our campaign supporter Simon Whittaker, Head of Cyber Security at Instil.
- He spoke to Computer Weekly about the legal consequences he faced just for doing his job as a cyber security professional. When a routine cyber security project brought police to his door, Simon saw firsthand how the UK’s outdated Computer Misuse Act puts professionals at risk.
Radiotherapy UK
As part of our work supporting cancer charity Radiotherapy UK we were delighted to have charity Chair, Professor Pat Price, feature in national media outlets.
In May, this included:
- Professor Pat Price featured in an article for the Daily Mail Online reacting to the quarterly cancer waiting times data and what this means for cancer care and treatment.
- In an article for the Guardian, Professor Pat Price reacted to the Governments investment into new radiotherapy machines in light of figures revealing that almost a quarter of elective operations took longer than 28 days to be rearranged.
The End Frozen Pensions Campaign
Tendo supports the End Frozen Pensions Campaign and its mission to raise awareness of the ‘frozen pensions policy’ that impacts nearly half a million UK state pensioners currently residing in certain countries abroad.
This May included:
- Coverage in the Daily Express regarding the frozen pensions policy, featuring comments from 100-year-old World War Two veteran and campaigner, Anne Puckridge, and supportive MPs Gregory Stafford and Neil Duncan-Jordan.
