Today, Tendo supported our client, Radiotherapy UK and England football legend and radiotherapy campaigner, Bryan Robson OBE, to make a big impact on World Cancer Day. Cancer impacts 1 in 2 of us. The Tendo Health Team was proud to have delivered a week of media and parliamentary action as part of our work coordinating the Catch Up With Cancer campaign. The major government announcement of the day, to produce a national cancer plan, was a major victory for Radiotherapy UK and the campaign.
On World Cancer Day, we supported advocacy in Parliament and the media to raise the profile of radiotherapy cancer care. We joined forces with over 30 charities for a day of parliamentary and media action.
Highlights included:
In the Media
- The week started with front-page national media coverage of Radiotherapy UK’s analysis and the urgent need for action.
- National and regional media hits covered the Lancet Oncology article by Professors Mark Lawler and Pat Price and the response to the cancer plan announcement.
- Significant coverage, including the Press Association and Daily Express, reported on a photocall featuring a digital poster van, 30 charities, and interviews with football legend Bryan Robson OBE.
In Parliament
- Participation from over 100 MPs at a World Cancer Day event in Parliament showed strong cross-party support for lifesaving radiotherapy.
- A photo call, as MPs joined campaigners, charities, and patients outside Parliament to support on World Cancer Day.
- Supported the charity to brief for a parliamentary debate on access to radiotherapy, led by Tim Farron MP.
