Tendo Consulting have been appointed as the secretariat for the APPG for the Ocean at its inaugural meeting with Tendo being funded by the National Oceanography Centre.

The inaugural meeting saw the election of Sally-Ann Hart MP as Chair. The following Vice Chairs were also elected: Sir Oliver Heald MP, Theo Clarke MP, Tonia Antoniazzi MP, Virginia Crosbie MP, Dr Matthew Offord MP, Afzal Khan MP, Baroness Jones and Lord Sheikh.

The APPG for the Ocean seeks to provide a collective space where all parliamentarians can support and promote ocean research and awareness, to develop greater understanding of the ocean and its role in tackling challenges such as climate change, and to debate wider ocean issues.

Tendo Consulting have today been chosen by Brompton Bicycles to support their continued growth in the UK.  We will be supporting their political engagement across Westminster, Whitehall and across the devolved administrations.

 The appointment adds to Tendo’s growing list of transport clients which includes Enterprise Rent a Car, the Faircharge campaign, the BVRLA, Urban Mobility Partnership and AVRO.

Following on from the news that the UK Government have backed calls made by our client Stop Sea Blasts and updated its policy guidance on clearances of old munitions, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs George Eustice MP joined Dame Joanna Lumley and Alford Tech to observe alternatives to high order detonations.

The decision taken in November follows months of campaigning by Tendo Consulting on behalf of the Stop Sea Blasts campaign and with the support of EODEX UK LTD, Marine Connection, Whale and Dolphin Conservation and World Cetacean Alliance, to highlight that loud and disruptive explosions cause needless harm to marine life.

 As a result of our campaign the Government guidance now states that clearances of old munitions on the seabed should take place using quiet, environmentally friendly disposal techniques.

We were delighted to organise a roundtable event in Birmingham on behalf of the Urban Mobility Partnership to launch our exclusive and extensive Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) paper to senior level decision makers and local authority representatives.

The Roundtable discussed how best to implement MaaS, the challenges that local authorities may face when deploying MaaS, and gave our guidance on how to incorporate MaaS solutions effectively. We were also pleased to show a product demonstration of Go-Hi, Europe’s largest MaaS trial in the Highlands of Scotland, alongside a presentation from officials from the Department for Transport.

As well as organising the roundtable, our transport team worked with the Urban Mobility Partnership to draft the practical guide.

Tendo Consulting have today been chosen by marine science research and technology institution the National Oceanography Centre to help build their profile with Westminster and Whitehall.

The National Oceanographic Centre are based on two sites in Southampton and Liverpool, United Kingdom. It is the UK’s largest institution for integrated sea level science, coastal and deep ocean research and technology development.  The centre was set up to work in close partnership with institutions across the UK marine science community to address key science challenges, including sea level change, the oceans’ role in climate change, predicting and simulating the behaviour of the oceans through computer modelling, the future of the Arctic Ocean and long-term monitoring technologies.

Tendo have today welcomed shared micromobility operator Dott to the Urban Mobility Partnership adding their expertise to the partnership which is campaigning to secure effective policy at a national, regional and local level to tackle the major challenges of congestion, air quality and climate change.

Dott will join as the Urban Mobility Partnership’s e-scooter provider, following its successful bid to be one of three operators participating in London’s recently launched trial. The expansion of the remit of the Urban Mobility Partnership to cover the full breadth of the mobility landscape, reflects the growing prevalence of micromobility solutions and their role in creating the multi modal transport systems of the future that place the consumer and their needs at its heart.  

Dott currently operate over 20,000 e-scooters in 15 European cities spanning Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Poland. The organisation achieved carbon neutrality in 2019 and is committed to environmental sustainability. Dott are currently operating e-scooters across six London Boroughs as part of the capital’s e-scooter trial.

On 7 June, TfL and London Councils announced the start of London’s rental e-scooter trial in a core group of boroughs, Canary Wharf and the City of London with more areas expected to join the 12-month trial as it progresses. Dott has been appointed alongside Lime and TIER to take part in the trial after a process where their ability to meet strict safety requirements and high operating standards was carefully considered.
